Qatar Embassy Attestation Stamp

Qatar is not part of the Hague Apostille Convention and will not accept documents that have been apostilled at DIRCO. Instead, DIRCO will issue a Certificate of Authentication for documents intended for Qatar that certifies that the signature on the document is from a recognised official at a South African government department.

Documents that have been notarised and then apostilled at a High Court also have to be sent to DIRCO to have this Certificate of Authentication added before they can be attested at the Qatar embassy

Contact us for more details, we are able to assist with the entire process.

More Information

Documents attestation at the Qatar embassy can be a confusing and lengthy process, as almost all documents will need to be legalised first at DIRCO with a Certificate of Authentication before being sent to the embassy to get the attestation stamp added.

Most official government documents or government verified documents have to go through this process, including but not limited to:

  • Unabridged Birth Certificates
  • Unabridged Marriage Certificates
  • Police Clearance Certificates
  • Letters of No Impediment to Marriage
  • SAQA verified academic degrees
  • Umalusi verified matric certificates
  • HPCSA verified medical certificates

Other documents normally have to be notarised and then apostilled at a High Court and then sent to DIRCO to get a Certificate of Authentication added. These verification and authentication processes can take a long time and it is essential that you plan and prepare beforehand to ensure that you obtain the Qatar attested documents in time for your intended purpose. The DIRCO Certificate of Authentication process can take up to 6-8 weeks.

Many people make the mistake of getting documents apostilled at DIRCO, or thinking a simple high court apostille will be sufficient for this, which can delay the application by months while these mistakes are corrected. It is very important that the right steps are followed from the very beginning.

We can assist with every step of this process, and ensure that you have peace of mind and no delays.

What is the difference between the Qatar embassy per page fee and your document processing fee?

The Qatar embassy charges a fee per document submitted for attestation (currently R590/document). We pass these fees directly on to the client without adding any markup.

We charge a service fee (currently R950) per document, such as birth certificates, police clearances, medical certificates, no matter how many pages they consist of, including DIRCO and High Court legalisations.

Does Qatar embassy attested documents have an expiry date?

Qatar embassy attested documents do not generally have an expiry date. However some documents, such as Police Clearance Certificates (6 months) and Medical Certificates (3 months) have a limited validity. We strongly recommend checking with the Qatari authorities whether any of the docunments you get attested have an expiry date for their specific use

Please check with your local authorities whether the document you are obtaining has to be handed in within a defined timeframe.

Is there any expedited or faster option to get attestation done at the Qatar Embassy?

The standard turnaround time at the Qatar embassy for certificate and document attestation is 10 working days. There is no official option to expedite this turnaround time. However, sometimes the Qatar embassy is able to process the documents in as little as 5 working days. We collect the documents as soon as they notify us that they are ready.

Are you affiliated or accredited with the Qatar Embassy or DIRCO?
