DIRCO Apostille: An apostille is a certificate that authenticates the origin of a public document, such as a birth certificate, police clearance certificate, or any official document verified by a public authority. Apostilles are used for documents that are going to be used in countries that are part of the Hague Apostille Convention.

DIRCO Certificate of Authentication. A Certificate of Authentication is similar to an apostille, except it is issued for a country that is not a member of the Hague Apostille Convention. These certificates often need to be further attested at their country’s embassy.

High Court Notarisation and Apostille: Certain legal documents, especially those intended for use in foreign jurisdictions, may require notarisation by a notary and an additional apostille authentication from a high court. This process ensures the document’s acceptance in the legal systems of other countries.

Apostilles and notarisations serve as preventive measures against fraud by ensuring that the documents are genuine and have been issued by the appropriate authorities. This adds a layer of trust and security in international transactions and legal matters.
