Obtain your police Clearance Certificate quickly and easily

A South African Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) is an official document issued by the South African Police Service (SAPS) that verifies whether an individual has a criminal record in South Africa. It is often required for various legal and administrative purposes, such as visa applications, employment background checks, immigration, and residency applications.

Simply get your fingerprints taken at your local police station or fingerprint taker using our forms, courier them to us and we will ensure that they are efficiently processed and get a Police Clearance Certificate issued for you.

This certificate is crucial for legal purposes where proof of no criminal record is required.

More Information

A SAPS Police Clearance Certificate is issued after a background check has been conducted to check any criminal records that a person might have. If the person has no criminal record whatsoever, the certificate will state that no convictions have been recorded for that person in South Africa

If the individual has a criminal record, the certificate will indicate this, with the details provided on the second page of the document. Despite the presence of a record, the certificate remains valid and can still be used.

The authority or government department reviewing the police clearance certificate will determine whether the information affects the outcome of the application, for example for emigration or visa purposes

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply even if I have a criminal record?

Yes, you can apply for your Police Clearance Certificate even if you have a criminal record. The certificate will record your offenses and convictions if this is the case.

Please note that if you do have a criminal record this can add up to 28 days onto the processing time.

Can I use my country’s own fingerprint forms for this application?

We would prefer to use the SAPS fingerprint forms in our application forms for the application in order to ensure that the application can be processed urgently and efficiently. The fingerprints must be taken using black ink.

Does this Police Clearance Certificate have an expiry date?

Yes, a Police Clearance Certificate is normally only valid for 6 months from date of issue. As an apostille or further legalisation can take a long time, it is essential that these processes are completed as efficiently as possible

Please check with your local authorities whether the letter has to be handed in within a defined timeframe or if there is a shorter validity date

Is there any expedited or faster option to get this Certificate?

The fastest turnaround offer via the service we use is 5-10 days. There is a possibility that we may get it quicker than that but we cannot guarantee it. We collect your Police Clearance Certificate as soon as it is issued to ensure the quickest turnaround

Do I need to get this letter apostilled or legalised for my current country?

Every country has different rules and regulations regarding apostilles. Generally English speaking countries do not require this, and non English speaking countries do, but this is not always the case. Police Clearance Certificates are apostilled at DIRCO. They should not be apostilled at the High Court as these will be rejected overseas.

We strongly suggest that you check with your local authority whether this PCC needs to be apostilled, legalised or translated..

Are you affiliated or accredited with SAPS or DIRCO?

We provide consulting, submission and collection services, and charge for our expertise and for successfully and quickly obtaining and legalising documents.

While we endeavour to obtain and get all documentation processed and legalised in the shortest possible time, we cannot be held responsible for any delay at a government department or foreign embassy that is out of our control. Please see our terms and conditions for details
